Overview
Prince Matsukata Masayoshi who served as prime minister twice obtained this land from Nasu Development Corporation, and opened a western style farm in 1893.
This is how Senbonmatsu Farm opened.
There were wild Japanese red pine trees densely back then, the prince named them "Senbonmatsu" (thousand pine trees), and it became the name of this area. Many pine trees still grow thickly, and the area is on the list of "100 topmost sightseeing spots in Tochigi."
